About this hotel

Hotel Colón faces the Mediterranean directly from its position on Benidorm's Poniente Beach, next to Elche Park and a short walk from the old town's Balcón del Mediterráneo. The décor stays simple and bright throughout, and most of the air-conditioned rooms come with balconies offering sea views over the bay. The Colón's own restaurant serves traditional Spanish cuisine, and a café-bar with a terrace adds a more casual option with free Wi-Fi. Guests staying here sit next to the Benidorm Sailing Club, useful for anyone wanting to try watersports during the stay, and the surrounding streets hold a good spread of shops, bars and restaurants. Two golf courses are reachable within ten minutes' drive, making this a workable base for a golf-and-beach combination.

  • Poniente beachfront
  • Sea-view rooms
  • Golf nearby
  • Restaurant on-site

Our take

This suits travellers who want a genuine sea view without paying for a high-rise Levante tower, and who value proximity to the old town and Elche Park over the Rincón de Loix nightlife strip. Golfers benefit from the short drive to two courses. Anyone wanting rooftop pools or a large spa circuit should look further along Poniente or toward Levante, since Colón keeps its amenities simple by comparison.

  • ✓Request a sea-view room specifically when booking; not every room at Colón faces the water.
  • ✓Walk to the Balcón del Mediterráneo in the early evening for the best light over the bay.
  • ✓Book tee times ahead if combining golf with your stay, since the nearby courses get busy in peak season.

Why we love it

  • Sea views from most balcony rooms
  • Next to Elche Park and Benidorm Sailing Club
  • Two golf courses within ten minutes
  • Short walk to the old town
Why guests love it

The sea view from our balcony room turned out to be the best part of the stay, watching the Poniente promenade fill up each morning while having breakfast without leaving the room. Being next to Elche Park meant an easy walk to the old town most evenings, and the traditional Spanish menu at the hotel restaurant was a solid fallback on the nights we did not feel like going out. The short drive to golf made the trip work for the non-beach half of our group too.
