About this hotel

Gastrohotel Boutique RH Canfali occupies one of Benidorm's iconic old-town buildings on Plaza San Jaime, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the bay area from the town centre itself. All air-conditioned rooms come with flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, and some include a private balcony looking onto Benidorm Bay or the church square. The rooftop terrace holds sun loungers with views taking in both Levante and Poniente beaches at once, a vantage point unique to the old town's headland position. The à la carte D-vora Restaurant serves fusion food based on Mediterranean dishes alongside a wide selection of wines, a genuine step up from the buffet format found at most Benidorm hotels. Rincón de Loix sits two kilometres from the hotel, and Aqualandia 3.3 kilometres, with Alicante Airport 46 kilometres away.

Our take

This suits couples and food-focused travellers who want a genuinely old-town, boutique stay with a rooftop view over both of Benidorm's beaches at once. D-vora Restaurant's à la carte menu and wine list stand out from the resort's standard dining. Anyone wanting a large pool or spa circuit on-site should look elsewhere, since Canfali trades those amenities for character and position.

  • ✓Request a balcony room facing Benidorm Bay or the church square specifically, since not every room includes the private balcony.
  • ✓Book a table at D-vora Restaurant even if not staying overnight; it is open to non-guests.
  • ✓Head to the rooftop terrace at sunset for the best light over both Levante and Poniente beaches at once.

Why we love it

  • Rooftop terrace over both beaches at once
  • À la carte D-vora Restaurant with wine list
  • Iconic old-town building on Plaza San Jaime
  • Some rooms with bay or church square balconies
Why guests love it

Dinner at D-vora Restaurant on our first night set the tone for the whole stay, Mediterranean fusion food good enough that we stayed on afterward just for the rooftop view, Levante and Poniente both lit up below from the old town's highest point. The balcony room over the church square gave us a genuinely different Benidorm than the high-rise photos suggest, quieter and older feeling despite being minutes from both beaches.
