About this hotel

Olivia Plaza Hotel sits directly on Plaza Catalunya in the centre of Barcelona, with a terrace bar offering views of Santa Ana Church across the square. Stylish rooms include a flat-screen TV, and this design hotel serves a buffet breakfast with the option to order breakfast to the room instead. The modern Nineteen restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine for guests who prefer to eat on-site. The chic rooms at the Olivia Hotel Barcelona include a free safe and views over the square itself, equipped with a sofa or armchair for guests who want a more residential feel than a standard hotel room. The Plaza Catalunya address puts nearly every central Barcelona landmark within a short walk.

Our take

This suits travelers who want a genuine Plaza Catalunya address with design-hotel styling, the square-facing rooms and terrace bar are a real differentiator here. Couples and design-conscious city-break travelers get the most from the location and interiors. Those wanting a quiet, away-from-the-crowds stay should look elsewhere, since Plaza Catalunya stays busy at nearly every hour of the day.

  • ✓Book a square-facing room if the Santa Ana Church view matters to your stay specifically.
  • ✓Have a drink at the terrace bar in the evening, the church view is best after sunset.
  • ✓Eat at the Nineteen restaurant at least once, the Mediterranean menu is a genuine highlight.

  • Terrace bar with Santa Ana Church views
  • Chic rooms with a free safe

Why guests love it

Watching Santa Ana Church from the terrace bar in the evening, drink in hand after a day of sightseeing, was one of the most memorable moments of the whole trip. Being directly on Plaza Catalunya meant we never once needed transit to reach the Barri Gòtic, Las Ramblas or the Eixample. The Nineteen restaurant's Mediterranean menu was good enough that we ate there twice, and the room's sofa gave us a proper spot to rest each evening.
